Termites:
termites are very sustainable because they produce ethonal. here is the process of how they produce the ethonal. The termites eat the part of the plants that we dont need to eat and the termites eat that and they have tiny micro organizims break down the food which produces ethonal. This is why our intersession has a tshirt that says termites know they just do.

Project Reflection~
What i was working on when we came back form catalina island was A freegan project with my partner Camille.
We created a Recycled piece of art with cardboard and we cut mosiac peices of and made a R3 poster.
We also recreated a poster on a trifold board on Freegans. the posterboard was not new it was recyceld by a old project but we reused it instead bvecause it was sustainable.
I am proud of the work that camille and I did for this project because it was very susainable , and we learned about different people and how they made a sustainable village by going to catalina and learning about the freegans and so much more.
One of the challenges that i faced during this project with camille and i was we had toruble figuring out what we going to display for the project on freegans. but we over came this by thinking what was sustainable and we came up with the piece of art and the board made all out of recyceld materials and we ended up having a great sustainable project!!
What sustainable means to me is to use little resoures today to have a better tommorow!!

freegan: someone who Choses to live off of someone's else garabge.
here is an example of a freegan:
someone ( a freegan) found a really vauluable item that was thrown in the trash
and that freegan thought it was very useful.
sustainability: To use little resoures today to have a better tommorow.
here is an example of being a sustainable person:
to recycle and reuse things instead of wasting things and making the world a better place and to have a better
tommorow.
stewardship: to care and always do you best to the earth.
here is an example of being stewardship: pick up trash , recycle, plant trees, etc.
baiscly you are being the best you can be and envoirmental to the earth.
biomimicry: imatating life.
here is an example of biomimicry:
baiscly we copy nature because when a termite eats wood the tiny micro organizims breaks down the food and
it turns it into ethonal a cleaner fuel that we can burn to get our electricty.
ecological footprint: us on earth using more than what earth an give us.
here is an example for the ecological footprint: in the usa we are the second on the list for using more than what the earth can give us. this means that we took more than what the earth supplied us with so this has to do with golbal warming.so we are taking demand of the supplies of what the earth can give us
overshoot (as it relates to supply and demand):when humans exceed natatures supplies.
here is an example of an over shoot: it is just like the ecological footprint when we take demand of the earth's supplies when we take more than earth can give us.
What does this equation mean?
area x bioproductivity = biocapacity [SUPPLY]
population x consumption per person x footprint intensity = ecological footprint: This equation means that we all on earth is taking more than earth can give us (as in each person in the world and the earth's population when we use the supplies that earth gives us.)
What is the significance of the year 1987?
D. What happened on October 6, 2007?

Answer the following questions on your blog in complete sentences and in your own words:
1. What is biomimicry?
Imitating Life.
2. Why are termites a great subject for biomimicry research?
Termites have enzymes taht could make fuel from parts of plants that are not being eaten by us.
3. What is an enzyme? What is a catalyst?
Catalyst is something that speeds up a process. Enzyme is a Catalyst of breaking down food.
4. What is cellulosic material?
Is a part of a plant that we do not eat.
5. Why would cellulosic ethanol be more sustainable and efficient than biofuels using corn or sugar cane?
Because instead of wasting the part of the plant that we dont eat, we can use it as fuel if the termites eat it (which produces ethonal.)
